Ryan Scherbart
Instructor
Dr. Scherbart is a tenured, full-time instructor of philosophy, religious studies, and humanities at Chabot College. He did his undergraduate work in philosophy and psychology at UC Santa Barbara. After earning a master's degree in philosophy at San Diego State, Dr. Scherbart taught at Santa Rosa Jr. College, Gavilan College, and Cabrillo College over a ten year span. In 2013, he completed a Ph.D. in philosophy at UC Santa Cruz and was hired full-time at Chabot in 2015. His areas of interest include free will, ethics, metaphysics, logic, and taoist & buddhist philosophy. Classes Dr. Scherbart teaches include: PHIL 50: Introduction to Philosophy, PHIL 55: Symbolic Logic, PHIL 60: Ethics, PHIL 65: Knowledge, PHIL 70: Social & Political Philosophy, RELS 50: Religions of the World, RELS 65: Religions of Asia, and HUMN 65: The American Style. As a former Co-chair of the COOL (Committee on Online Learning), Ryan is interested in the best practices and future of online education.
